40 years of humanitarian support
Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Known as a famous lyric by the music group Earth, Wind, and Fire but also the night of our fundraiser celebrating Taawon’s 40th year!
40 years and counting...
Four decades marked by steadfast resilience, dedication, and outstanding achievements. Four decades of committing to empowering the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. Four decades of translating vision into tangible action on the ground.
To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Taawon decided to bring together its supporters, Board of Trustees members, and General Assembly members in Lebanon and Palestine to celebrate what has been accomplished and to continue what began forty years ago. It was a busy week with a fully dedicated day of tours conducted to check the programs within the Beddawi and Burj Barajneh camps, for the extended team to gain insights on the impact being done and to listen directly to the needs of our community.

Music to support vocational and technical education
On the 21st of September in the heart of Beirut, in Sursock Museum to be exact, with the presence of pianist and composer Michel Fadel, more than 500 people gathered for a noble cause. This event was dedicated to raising funds for the vocational and technical education of Palestinian youth.

The choice of the Sursock Museum as our venue was intentional; it serves as a reflection of the spirit of Palestinian youth in Lebanon. Much like the museum, which recently emerged from the ashes of the Beirut blast, these young Palestinians have shown unwavering resilience in the face of adversity. Resilience has become their second nature..
Why vocational and technical education?
In the throes of the financial crisis, the number of Palestinian students dropping out before they reach high school is elevated yearly. Studies indicate that 1 in every 2 Palestinian high school students, drop out. Enrolling in vocational studies where they can be mentored, nurtured, and ultimately earn a certified degree will change their lives, empower them with the best skills and knowledge, and secure them a prosperous future. This is why we found that it’s eminent to ensure the funds for fully paid scholarships to effectively educate the next generation the future will be based on.
Vocational education is part of our even bigger education program. A core program of Taawon is education. We start from the crib and teach them young with the early childhood education program. As the child grows up, there is also school education where they can access tutors after school to help with their studies. After completing school comes the university program that supports students through loans and scholarships. The implementation of these projects depends on the support of institutions and donors such as the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and UNICEF, and on a group of individual supporters as well.
Annual fundraising concert
Sowed enthusiasm, devotement, and observance, we reaped success. We were able to fully fund the vocational education of tens of Palestinian youth.

Our heartfelt gratitude extends to everyone who graced us with their presence. To our generous sponsors, the extraordinary Michel Fadel and his band, the attendees, and the dedicated Taawon team. Here's to celebrating 40 years of impact and to the promise of 40 more.
