The solar lamps are lighting up their days

Darkness is not related only to the absence of light in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, darkness is all day long. The overcrowded camps left its residents with no access to sunray. The ongoing financial crisis in Lebanon, left everyone cut off from electricity.

The electricity cut-off raised many obstacles in front of the families especially when it comes to their children learning at home. Here come the solar lamps that arrived as a genie in a box for these children.

With the support of UNICEF, Taawon distributed solar lamps to six thousand of children enrolled in fifty-two kindergartens in all Palestinian camps in Lebanon. The lights will definitely help them carry on their learning easily at home.

Mohamed Abu Arab, 5, examined the lamp and how to use it before taking his box home, and with a wide smile he said, “I love it”.

As for Elene Nimr, 6, she looked amazed by the lamp and the way it works and for her “it’s the best gift I receive ever and I will color and paint the whole time at home”.

The Early Childhood Education Development Program accompanies early childhood education in the Palestinian camps in Lebanon. It works directly with 46 kindergartens and focuses on developing the quality of education in these KGs, offering continuous training to the teachers on the new methods of active learning, alongside rehabilitating the KGs to lift up the education environment.
